Diagnoses for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) are occurring at an epidemic level. These diagnoses present unique challenges for families, psychologists, and schools. Antioch University New England heard the urgent call for ASD expertise and established The Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders to deliver in-depth training in this area.

Educators, counselors, psychologists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, case managers, advocates, parents, behavior analysts, behavior specialists, and others will benefit from the specialized training offered by the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders Training.

We offer the Autism Spectrum Disorders Certificate Program, the Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate Program and various continuing education courses to meet your needs.


Which program is right for you?

Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate

The ABA Certificate is the right program for you if:
  • you want to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or an Assistant Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCABA).
  • you want extensive training and foundations in behavioral approaches to the treatment of autism.

To apply for certification, student must complete an internship or independent field study -- usually consisting of 1000-1500 hours of BCBA supervised work (approximately 20 hours per week for a year.) You can use your job as your independent field study site as long as it meets established requirements including supervision by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). If your job does not meet these requirements, Antioch University New England can arrange for an internship near your home.

How this program works:
  • Graduate credits are delivered one weekend a month in the fall and spring, plus two summer intensives.
  • Internships can be done at your current job or can be arranged for you near your home.
  • The program starts in July and is completed in 14 months.
  • Options within program for both post-bachelor’s and post-master’s applicants.

Autism Spectrum Disorders Certificate Program

The ASD Certificate is the right program for you if:
  • you are a currently practicing counselor, psychologist, educator, special educator, speech-language pathologist, case manager, occupational therapist, tutor, parent, or advocate.
  • you want to work with people with Asperger’s, High-Functioning Autism, or PDD-NOS
  • you want to improve skills and strategies to better work with people on the autism spectrum.
  • you are interested in a multidisciplinary approach to working with this population.
How this program works:
  • 12 graduate credits are delivered monthly on weekends
  • the program starts in August and is completed in 9 months
  • specialize with advanced seminars tailored to your discipline
