DMT Sequence of Study
The program entails two days per week of classes. In their first year, students take core classes in dance/movement therapy, two semesters of practica in dance/movement therapy, and counseling courses. During their second year, students take advanced dance/movement therapy courses and additional counseling courses. They also spend nine months over two semesters in a supervised counseling practicum/ internship sequence, for 12 to 15 hours per week totaling 450 hours, and take a concurrent 6 credit Professional Seminar.
During their third year, students begin their six- to nine-month dance/movement therapy internship (minimum 700 hours) in a clinical setting under BC-DMT supervision and in compliance with all other standards approved by the American Dance Therapy Association. Internship sites are available locally, nationally, and internationally where BC-DMT supervision can be obtained.
